Travel Day Back to Mexico City
Yesterday was a long day on the bus. The trip back to Mexico City pretty much backtracks our route that took us to Guanajuato. Our 9:30 am departure put us back in the capital around 3 in the afternoon. Although it was a long day, not a single complaint from Dom. After checking into our hotel, we headed out for a very late lunch or early dinner since we hadn't eaten much. We didn't have much luck finding the Torture Museum. Although I know where it was in the past, it's possible that it has moved. Nevertheless, after our visit to the witchcraft market, we'll try to find it again.

Mummies in Guanajuato
After a nice breakfast on one of the main squares here in Guanajuato, Dom and I walked up to the Mummy Museum. Pretty cool, but creepy. We were about the only non-Mexicans there. It's the first time that my admission to a museum was less than Dom's. I got the Senior rate! Anyway, room after room of mummies from Guanajuato. This is great town. Yesterday, we took the funicular up above the city for the view. Dom has really enjoyed the ice cream here. I'm sure we'll stop again later tonight. Although it's a hilly city, walking around is still pretty easy. So, off we go looking for someplace to hsve dinner and then a little more exploring.

A Quiet Day in San Miguel de Allende
San Miguel de Allende (SMA) was absolutely crazy here yesterday when we arrived. It appears to be a major weekend destination for Mexicans and other tourists. It's a beautiful city full of color and everything you associate with Mexico. Our small hotel here is equally lovely and just two blocks off the main square.
Dom slept in this morning and then we did a very American thing - we had coffee and breakfast at Starbucks. It is by far the nicest Starbucks I've ever been in. After that we simply strolled the narrow, windy streets of SMA. Took some photos and found a playpark to hang out in a bit. Lunch is coming up soon and then we'll explore a bit more. Unfortunately, all the museums are closed here today. We'll make up for that tomorrow when we get to Guanajuato.
