Sightseeing in Queretaro
Yesterday was busy visiting many of the sites that visitors to Queretaro come to see. After a leisurly breakfast at the hotel, we headed down to visit the Ex-Convento of Santa Cruz. Dom reallyenjoys taking photos there. He's really learning quickly how to frame a good picture. After that, it was just a short walk down to an overlook where we got to see the 300 year old aquaduct. This 1.25 km arched structure was built to transport water to the old city. We had an excellent lunch at La Mariposa. This restsursnt/diner/cafeteria looks just like it did in 1940 when it opened. They also serve very tasty enchiladas. How many 10 year olds do you know who like museums? Well, Dom does! After a short rest, we headed to the Museum of Art and the Regional Museum to see some interesting collections. As we had a very late lunch, we just snacked for dinner while hanging out in the plazas people watching snd enjoying the street entertainers. Today, we travel to San Miguel de Allende for two nights.

Queretaro
After a full three days in Mexico City, Dom and I headed north to the colonial city of Queretaro. The easy three hour bus trip north was on a 1st class bus that included lunch and Wifi (a first for me). We are staying at a nice older, but fully modern, hotel in the hear of Queretaro's historical district. Unlike Mexico City, everything here is pretty close to our hotel so walking everywhere is easy. This afternoon and evening, we strolled the narrow streets and visited the cathedral. Since it is a Friday night, the plazas are full of locals with many street artists entertaining the crowds. It's really apretty cool city!

The Pyramids
Dom and I took the bus to Teotihuacan on Wednesday to see the Aztec city and pyramids. Really great! We got to climb both the Pyramid of the Moon and the Pyramid of the Sun. It was about 250 steep steps up to the top of the Sun. What great views! Dom also picked up a few gifts from the sellers there. Although most of our day was taken up by this trip, we did get back to the city middle of the afternoon for lunch/dinner at a Chinese buffet. Chinese food is very popular in Mexico. A heavy thunderstorm rolled in late in the afternoon, but luckily, we were able to find a cafe to get something to drink and stay dry at the same time. After our full day, it was an early evening in back at the hotel.

First Day in Mexico City
Dom and I had a great plane ride today! In fact, with a bit of a tailwind, we arrived about a half hour early. But, it was a busy day at the airport so it still took us an hour to get through customs and bagage check.
In addition to Dom's first plane ride, he also rode his first subway. We had a very smooth trip to the hotel where we checked into a great room with a balcony right in the heart of the city. Hittingthe pavement right away, we headed down to the main plaza where we visited the cathedral and watched about 100 Aztec dancers. By then it was dinner time. Dom's first real Mexican tacos. We each got a large plate of various tacos and ate almost everything. A walk through Alemeda park and a quick visit to see the inside lobby of the fine arts museum helped us digest dinner. Churros and hot chocolate were a must before heading back to the hotel.
It's been a very long travel day, so we're in early. Tomorrow, after a nice breakfast, we head out of the city to Teotihuacan to visit the pyramids.

At The Airport
When of the very nice things about coming up the night before flying is that our hotel was just 5 minutes from the airport. Although we had to get up early (5:15), we were able to have a nice hot breakfast at the hotel before catching the shuttle.
Checking in this morning was easier than anticipated. I only needed Dom's passport and no other special papers or permissions. Easy peasy! Dom's been excited since waking! Going through security, he was chosen for a little extra screening. So, they swabbed his hands to see if he had been handling explosives recently! We're now sitting at the gate. The plane is here so we should leave on time. Dom's first flight so he's probably just a little bit nervous. But, already, I can tell he is going to bea great traveler. It'll be fun knocking about sunny Ol' Mexico with him. We arrive this afternoon around 1:50.

Montreal: On Our Way!
Dom got his first taste of Canada this afternoon as his dad and brothers shuttled us up to the MTL Express Hotel just next to the Montreal airport. Whew, we're on our way!
After a nice dinner at the hotel restaurant, we're just hanging out in our room. We'll be up early tomorrow morning, grab a quick breakfast in the hotel lobby, and then take the shuttle to the airport just 5 minutes away.
